Despite long lines at the stores and even longer wait times for T-mobile Activations department, T-mobile posted their record highest sales day ever on June 19th 2010 when all phones were free (some after $100 or $50 mail in rebate) .
According to T-Mobile spokesperson Patty Raz, in corresponding with Thedroidguy for thedroidguy.com and androidheadlines.com, “The promotion resonated with wireless customers” Raz went on to tell Androidheadlines.com and Thedroidguy that the HTC My Touch 3G Slider was the most sought after phone that day. Calls to T-mobile stores across the country that spoke based on annonymity confirmed that the My Touch 3g slider sold out, in some cases, way before the Windows flagship HD2.
This proves that the demand for good Android devices still exists with the T-Mobile customer. T-mobile has been underfire as of late for Verizon taking their place as the “jewel” of the Android carriers. It’s also been revealed as of late that T-mobile’s android devices lag behind in updating to the newest available version of Android, Android 2.1. Tmobile is aggresively working on this updating issue, however one has to remember that T-Mobile had the Android platform before the other carriers so naturally has older Android devices still on the market.
The Android community is patiently waiting to see if a Samsung Galaxy S device will hit T-mobile and whats down the pike for HTC, and Motorola.
