One great disappointment for the owners of EVO 4G was the 30 FPS cap in both 2D and 3D modes. Well you can be less disappointed now. A fix is on the way. While some say that 30FPS doesn’t matter, but in some games the cap is noticeable and has been seen when comparing to other Android phones.
The folks over at XDA-Developers have put their hacking skills to work and have seem to have found a solution to the problem. A Custom kernel which certain users flashed has generated reports that the 30 FPS cap was removed and the performance of the display was increased. This hack only works on certain EVO models however. There are supposedly 002 and 003 versions of the EVO on the market and the only devices this will work with are those with Epson LCD’s.
HTC has said they would release the kernel source soon, this would make the hack available to all phones. But the good news? The EVO can produce 60 FPS. So maybe there will be a OTA update from HTC soon.
