First spotted at the Google I/O this year, the Acer S110 or Liquid Stream has “finally surfaced in the Middle East” according to stuffmideast.com and by all accounts, its a great phone.
The Taiwanese company’s first serious attempt at a high-end Android handset has everything you would expect, like a 1 GHz processor, a 5 Mpx camera, capable of capturing 720 px video, and a 3.7 in AMOLED touchscreen.
Acer plan to release the Stream with Android 2.1, skinned with their own software, which includes their brilliant clear.fi which lets you take a photo with your phone when you’re out and find it waiting on your laptop when you get home. You can also stream media to other clear.fi enabled devices nearby with it.
I’m not generally a fan of skins, if someone is gonna meddle with my OS its gonna be me, which is why I love Android, but this one is neat. I really liked the way you can check live feeds from the locked home screen, as well as the time. All in all, a sensible use of Android’s mutability and with an expected retail price of $700 when it arrives in the stores, a good all round smartphone.
