Citizens of the US, now is the time for action! The Congress app is a new and innovative way to get involved with what is happening on Capitol Hill.
The app is organized into two sections: Legislators and Bills. In the Legislators bit, you can select “My Location,” and it will give you your two senators and the representative for your current location. You can also search by various criteria including by committee. If you click on congressperson, you get everything about that person that you could possibly want. There is a link right there to call their office, a button to load their office location in Maps, a button to open their web site, and a link to the bills that they sponsor. It will also list the committees that they serve on. There are tabs in the top for Profile (described above), News, Twitter, and YouTube. By hitting the menu button there are lots of options for extra information, or to make a shortcut for your homescreen.
The Bills section will list bills by the following categories: New Laws, Just Introduced, Latest Votes, and a search by bill code. In the list, you can select a bill, and get information on the bill sponsors, news about the bill, its history, what the votes on it look like and there is even a button to share the bill, so that all your Facebook (or Twitter or other) friends can know that you support HR 5662.
Even if you are not into lobbying, it looks to be a very useful app. It will certainly be helpful come election season in November!
