Mobile Roadie, a company known for its semi-custom app maker, launched its bigger, better, and more customizable Mobile Roadie Pro on Wednesday. The original app maker features predefined color schemes and an easy online interface for designing a fairly professional-looking iPhone or Android app.
Mobile Roadie, which costs $499 for initial set up and then an additional $29 per month, is a mobile app maker for hands-on types. The original Mobile Roadie allows users to upload a variety of content (including pictures, videos, show times, music, merchandise, and playlists), as well as choose a semi-customizable theme. Users can also set various parameters, such as the app price, territories it will be available in, copyright information, and description.
Notable apps created on Mobile Roadie include the Wynn Las Vegas app and the Ninja Tune app. Mobile Roadie Pro is Mobile Roadie on steroids. As far as appearance goes, Mobile Roadie only allows users to choose a predefined color scheme and arrange sections. Mobile Roadie Pro, on the other hand, offers a lot more depth–users can still pick from predefined schemes, but are also able to customize everything from exact color to depth to opacity to fonts. Mobile Roadie Pro users can also pick different header themes, button styles, and menu footers.
In the event that none of the pre-made header themes or button styles particularly appeals to the user, the user can also upload their own design.
There’s no word on what Mobile Roadie Pro will set you back–but it’s probably not cheap. The original Mobile Roadie costs $499 for each of the app makers–iPhone and Android–though you do get a 20 percent discount on one if you buy them both together (for the record, that’s still a good $900+). Also, the first 1,000 app downloads are included in your monthly price, but after that it’ll cost you $0.01 per fan. That’s not terrible, unless your app has a million downloads, in which case it’ll cost you $10,019 per month.
Of course, it does cost a good deal more to hire a designer to make you an iPhone/Android app (unless you can get a good deal on one of those basement-dwellers…something’s gotta bring in the Starcraft II and Mountain Dew).
