Many consumers are complaining about the fact that the Samsung Galaxy S has no LED notification light. Well, Madmack over at XDA-Developers has come up with a genius application by the name of NoLED.
When your phone receives a notification, it switches the screen on and displays a small red square in the upper left corner of your screen. The square will move around every three seconds. Why red? The color red uses the least amount of energy to display. With the AMOLED screens, where black is displayed, there is no power being used on the screen – therefore your battery is only fueling the small red square, acting as a notification light.
To get rid of the red square, the only key that you can use is the home key. The touch buttons will do nothing, which is nice. You may think that this app uses more energy than needed, however it is conservative and is a must have for the Galaxy S!
