There are many angry consumers who were waiting patiently to get their hands on the new Dell Streak that was slated to be introduced at the end of July. Just last week there was even a note on their website that invited consumers to sign up for a special pre-sale offer. “I can say definitely that Dell Streak won’t go on sale in July,” said spokesman Matt Parretta in a telephone interview.
Dell followers are extremely disappointed in the recent delay as there was even an FAQ on the site telling of the late July release. On top of that, someone put on the Dell site that Streak sales would commence on Wednesday. That was quickly taken down. Dell them commented that the post was a mistake and a new note was put up saying “The Dell Streak will be available for purchase soon!”
One thing did come out that was meant to; the price. The Streak will come out for $299 with a 2 year contract from AT&T. Without a contract the Streak will be $549. The Streak was rumored to ship with Android 1.6 but now we hear that Dell will be releasing OTA updates to Froyo 2.2 and Adobe Flash 10.1.
This is looking very bad for Dell who is getting in on the Android action very late. Remarkably, there has been a lot of buzz over the Streak and there has been some demand. With the promise of a summer release, followers were getting excited. With the most recent delay, many are just plain fed up. Dell better do some PR and give some answers, or the Streak could be a huge bust!
