Everyone knows smart phones are replacing regular handsets by an amazing rate. The biggest growth should be no surprise, is the Android operating system. The OS is up 13.8% since 2009 on global shipments of Android based phones.
The biggest growth is predicted to occur with the two biggest handset makers Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics. These two companies have promised more devotion to the Android based operating system and more resources to develop handsets with Android.
Android is predicted to grow 24.5% for the second half of 2010 to surge Android to the second most popular smart phone platform. Shipments of handsets with Android are estimated to jump 561% from a year ago to 55 million units shipped
