Google Mobile has just unveiled part one of two in their announcements for today. It is Voice Actions. You know how sometimes you want your phone to do something, but you can’t decide on the best way to go about it? That is where voice actions comes in. Think J.A.R.V.I.S (from Iron Man) or the newer Star Treks. You tell the phone what you want it to do, and it does the rest. Of course the simple things are there, but there are some really cool additions:
I can tell my phone, “Go to Wikipedia,” and it goes. Although it’s cliche, I can say, “Note to self, I need to buy milk,” and suddenly I will have a note saying that. There is location based calling so I can say, “Call Walmart in Cincinatti.” There are even some Easter eggs, like “Find music by M.IA.” It will ask if you want to create a Pandora station with that artist. It will use the built in music streaming services that you have installed.
Further, there is a new Google search widget, that gives suggestions. For example if you search for Italian restaurants in a certain area, it will give reviews and directions.
Here is a video of how it works:

You need Froyo 2.2 to use this wonderfulness. It will come preinstalled on the Droid 2 by Verizon.
