Google is everywhere, and they want to take all preconceived notions of how things are supposed to work and turn them up side down. They’ve dominated the way we search the internet, use our smartphones and now they want to take those innovations and change the way we watch television.
At Comic Con 2010 a couple of Google’s engineers showed off what Google TV is capable of. Among some of the features viewers already use, such as DVR for recording television shows to watch at a more convenient time, it will also seamlessly integrate your television with the internet. There are two ways Google will make this happen for customers. They are in talks at the moment with many television manufacturers to include Google TV built into their sets, or a separate box from Logitech can be purchased.
Google TV comes with the Chrome web browser and Adobe Flash, and is built on the Andriod operating system, making everything that is possible for you to do on your personal computer and Android smartphone possible on your TV as well. This means following Twitter updates while watching Judge Judy, planting crops of pineapples in FarmVille on your big screen, and the ability to run apps from the Android market.
