The QuestForStars crew tried an experiment in which they sent a Droid 1, a digital camera, and a GPS, in space, with the help of an air balloon. The Droid had the Lapsedroid application running, which helped it take photos and record its entire journey through atmosphere and outer space.
Unfortunately, the balloon was carried away by wind and while the team tried to recover it from the mountains, they were turned away because the road was too dangerous. Eventually a search and rescue team volunteered to get the Droid 1 back, as a training exercise, and they managed to find it after a week.
