This new Motorola Android handset has finally surfaced in the United States Market: at regional carrier Cincinnati Bell. So far no other US wireless carrier has announced this 720 GHz phone, but Wind Mobile will be selling it in Canada.
The Milestone XT720 is a distinct phone from the Motorola Milestone, which is what DROIDs are called when they get sold in Europe. The two handsets share some similarities, but the biggest difference is the higher resolution camera and video aboard the XT720.
It sports a 3.7 inch screen, an 8 MP camera and can record video at 720p (which might explain the model number). It will have Android 2.1. The CPU is powered by a TI OMAP3440. Originally the Milestone XT720 was originally spec’ed with a slower 550 MHz processor, which was upgraded by Moto two months ago. Moto also doubled the RAM from 256 to 512 MB, only to lower it again.
Want to try this phone? It can be yours for $200 on contract ($450 without) if you live in Cincinnati Bell’s service area, which includes portions of Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. The dark green is 3G service, while the medium green is their local service area.
