A job posting found on Linkedln revealed that Sony is looking to hire a software developer for “developing application software for digital reading and other consumer electronic devices.” No such product line has been officially announced by Sony who does have a line of eReaders powered by its own proprietary reader software. Sony’s Reader has been faced with a dwindling market share position next to Amazon’s Kindle and Barns & Noble’s nook. Sony is also looking for a candidate with knowledge of “Google Android SDK, Microsoft Windows, and / or Apple Mac OS X”. This may imply that Sony is moving towards a multi-platform reader along the same lines as Kindle. Sony does have the XPERIA line of phones through its Ericson affiliation which runs the Android OS.
