For all users of the Samsung Vibrant from T-Mobile, listen up! If you have been waiting for someone to release a stock Android 2.1 Eclair then today is your lucky day.
From xda-devlopers forum, developer eugene373 has heard your cries for a Vanilla Android and has delivered the goods. Now you don’t have to sift through the custom user interface Samsung and T-Mobile has provided for you. This gives you a chance at really making your phone your own.
Before you get root crazy and install this ROM, you have to understand there are a few bugs to work out. This should come as no surprise if you are a weathered veteran at installing ROMs, but if you’re new to the game there are sacrifices one must make. First, the camera doesn’t work, for most people that is a deal breaker. I have never loaded a ROM without a working camera; not that I use it all of the time, but it’s nice to know it’s there. Secondly, it’s reported that the data connection isn’t working, but a search through the thread reveals that it is possible after searching for the fix. Remember that you are doing this to your phone at your own risk, the devs that make this kind of phone personalization a reality are not working for money or some kind of fame. It’s all a labor of love for them. If there is something you do not like about the ROM, be respectful to the developer and make suggestions…not accusations.
