Move over, Cincinnati Bell. Looks like Wind Mobile may also be providing the Motorola Milestone XT720. Last week their Chairman, Tony Lacavera said to watch for one or two Android devices coming to their lineup? Along came the Huawei U8100, and now it’s looking like there will be a second Android phone.
Wind Mobile, a relative newcomer to Canadian wireless services, offers discount calling plans and full-priced (unsubsidized) phones, with a presence only in a few large cities. They offer several other Huaweis other than the new Android model, some Blackberrys, and a few other less expensive models. The Milestone is a big step up for Wind’s selection.
Don’t confuse this phone with the Motorola Milestone, better known as the DROID in US markets. Both sport a 3.7 inch screen and weigh in on the higher side (165g for the DROID/Milestone and 160g for our new entry). The XT720 has a virtual keyboard rather than a slide-out, and most reviewers are ga-ga over its 8 megapixel camera with xenon flash, plus the ability to shoot 720p video (and that video resolution tells you where the model number came from). Plus an HDMI-out port and the cable is included (why couldn’t the Motorola DROID X come with the cable?) And the new phone has a faster processor (720 MHz versus 600 MHz), certainly faster than the original 550 MHz chip that the XT720 was going to have.
