Eric Schmidt hold his speech today at IFA, and besides reaffirming that there are 200k Android phones activated per day, he also said that Google TV will come this fall and you will be able to control it with a virtual remote from your Android phone or iPhone.
The question that pops to my mind is will Apple accept or reject this remote app? I think it’s possible they could reject it, unless Google has talked to them already and convinced them to accept the app in the AppStore. I’m sure if Apple wants to reject it they will reject it and give some nonsese reason for doing it, and they will get away with it. It will be interesting to see what will happen.
Either way this was a great idea from Google, and the virtual remotes better be good, because I hate the idea of having an extra keyboard or controlling the Google TV interface from a regular remote. It would be way too cumbursome to use Google TV. If they did the app right, it could be much easier this way.
