Android and Star Wars fans rejoice for Droid R2-D2 launch parties

Star Wars fans and Android rejoice as Droid R2-D2 launch with release parties… On 29 September in locations around the country certain Verizon stores will have launch parties for it. Store will be having give aways such as free Droid R2-D2 phones at the events with Costume contest and raffles. Verizon is expecting to only to sell around 50,000 of these special edition phones so if you’re not one of the lucky one’s to have a Verizon store close to you or you just wish to stay home you could always take a chance of buying online as they will be sold there as well.

Stores such as the one in Hialeah Florida will close the night before at 9pm and re-open at 9:30pm for a costume party, trivia contest, giveaways and a special appearance from the The 501st Legion costume fan group. At midnight the store will re-open again to sell the Special Edition phone as well as any other phone you may also want to buy.

As with any other Star Wars collectors will want to buy a piece of the franchise and can keep it in the box without a contract for full cost(somewhere around 500-600 as the exact price isn’t released yet). On a two-year contract the Droid 2 cost $199.99 so we can assume that it will be at that price or north of that as it will be a limited run phone.

Florida as we know now will have four locations as well as others around the country so if you don’t see a store here that you’ve been told of such parties let us know so we can pass on the word.
