DROID X Update to Froyo Tomorrow Noon EDT

Earlier this morning, Verizon Wireless published the Android OS 2.2 (Froyo) release notes for their Motorola DROID X handset.  There’s been a number of announcements, hints, and rumors from both Motorola and Verizon Wireless that the operating system upgrade was coming “late summer.”

Well, the 22nd of September is about as late as you can get and still be summer.  And it’s true: the update is going out starting tomorrow at noon, Eastern time.  Best of all, you don’t have to wait your turn for the improvements.  Just go to Settings, and then About, and choose System Updates, and you will be able to download the new operating system.  Just be sure to wait until at least 12:00 noon EDT tomorrow.

Then enjoy faster and better Froyo goodness!  Plus enjoy several improvements and fixes.  Go read the full list, but for a preview, you know you’ll be enjoying Adobe Flash and automatic app updates.  Among fixes are no more  annoying connection drop when you switch from WiFi to 3G or back.
