Fido releases its first Android device – Acer Liquid E

As previously reported, Canadian cell carrier Fido has released another smartphone, their first Android-powered device into the wild. The Acer Liquid E can be yours for a mere $30 with a  3-year contract or $375 without.

It’s safe to assume that many of the smartphones (including Android) will make their way from Rogers over to Fido. More “mid-level” carriers are springing for more devices that can do more than the basic talk and text. Bell’s Virgin Mobile started taking in more smartphones when they moved to HSPA at the beginning of the year and added the now discontinued HTC Legend and are going to get the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant. Wind mobile has also entered the Android Market with Two phones and their latest the Motorola Xt720.

Let’s take another quick look at what Fido’s Acer Liquid E is sporting:

  • 3.5 inch Multi-touch display
  • 768MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor
  • 5MP camera
  • WiFi
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth
  • 3.5mm headphone jack
  • MicroSD expansion up to 32GB (ships with 2GB)

Head over to Fido to pick up yours today!
