HP has decided to throw a kink into the Android Tablet market today with the announced pricing of a printer that comes with a 7 inch detachable tablet. HP’s eStation printer and tablet will be priced at $399 when it hits the shelves. That price is awesome because not only are you getting a tablet but you also get a compatible printer. With that kind of pricing for the two you can bet that this will be huge competition to the tablets already set for release like the Samsung Galaxy Tab. So here is what we know so far concerning this dynamic duo:
Android 2.1 will be stock but will be upgraded to 2.2 in the future
Wi-Fi only
Tablet portion of the duo will have a battery life of 4 to 6 hours
Tablet will be connected to Barnes & Noble eBook store
Yahoo skinned but Gmail will be accessible through browser
NO Android Market
Bundle will include tablet, printer and ink
Will be released for the holidays
Despite the unit pictured above and the video below, this is still a prototype but I can only imagine that will generate a nice buzz this holiday season. Hopefully we will start to see more of this bundle in action in the upcoming weeks and months. Be sure to check here for more details as they become available.
