Wow, here’s a fascinating little rumor offered up over at Boy Genius Report. Supposedly Verizon Wireless is not going to keep carrying the Motorola DROID 2 much longer. Instead, they’re going to drop it in favor of the DROID 2 World Edition that yet to be launched. The D2WE would be a DROID 2 with GSM for roaming abroad.
Verizon’s move makes perfect sense from an inventory standpoint. After all, why stock two versions of the same phone, and then have to price one a little higher for the extra capability?
And it’s not like Big Red is worried over their early adopters turning on them. After all, the D2 hasn’t exactly found a lot of fans. But what would you think if you paid $200 for a DROID 2 and then it was yanked and replaced with a World Edition, for the same price?
