A lot of Canadians have been expecting for the Samsung Captivate phone, but now it seems it will be pushed a few weeks back due to a manufacturing issue. Here’s their statement:
“UPDATE: We have news for those who have been asking about the release date for the Samsung Galaxy Captivate. We anticipated launching earlier, but there has been a manufacturing delay. As a result, we expect the device will be on sale by mid-October. Pre-orders have also been pushed back, and we hope to make them available later this week.”
Captivate is coming with a Super AMOLED display and we all know these displays are not exactly in large supply, and considering the high demand for all Samsung’s Galaxy S models, I wouldn’t be surprised if this delay is just a shortage of their Super AMOLED displays.
For all Super AMOLED and AMOLED fans out there, you only have to endure this kind of shortages this second half next year, when Samsung should have ready their new manufacturing facility which will be able to produce 10x as much displays.
