Sony Ericsson Roadmap for Updates Leaked

The OS on the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 (and friends) has always been old news.  That said, the UX (user experience) on the Sony Ericsson Android devices is pretty awesome.  A leaked Sony roadmap was just uncovered at IFA last week that shows a lot of updates in the works.  But unfortunately, no Froyo.  Same rules apply as with all rumors: we report it, but it is not necessarily the truth.

The roadmap is in German and details updates to the X10 on one side and the X10 mini/X10 mini pro/X8 on the other.  There are three updates upcoming, 1.6x, 2.1, and 2.1x.  Using the powers of the internet, I can know what the German means (and so can you)!

The 2.1 update for the X10 will give 720p video with continuous auto-focus, HTML5 support, Twitter and Facebook integration with the phonebook, and five homescreens.  There will also be a revised menu.  The 2.1x is mostly an update to the UX, namely Timescape and Mediascape.

The 2.1 update for the minis and the X8 will upgrade Bluetooth to 2.1, and change the four-corner navigation slightly, as well as the social phonebook and HTML5.

steinii1488, a forum member at se-world.info, states that 2.1 is expected in October/November with 2.1x following in December/January.  This means that if 2.2 is coming at all (don’t hold your breath), it will be at least in 2011.
