What happened to Google Music?

Recent reports have claimed that Google Music might be delayed until next year, but recent rumors make you wonder if it will come at all…..

Reuters has come out with information claiming that Google has not signed with any music labels yet, which makes things seem quite bleak. In order to go after iTunes, Google needs a very large catalog to go after Apple. Some of the music companies would love to stick it to Apple.

“Finally here’s an entity with the reach, resources and wherewithal to take on iTunes as a formidable competitor by tying it into search and Android mobile platform,” said a label executive who asked not to be identified. “What you’ll have is a very powerful player in the market that’s good for the music business.”

Android has been on a tear recently, outselling every other smartphone in the 4th quarter. So far nearly everything about Android has been great, except music. Google music has the potential to change that. A successful Google Music launch would finally give Android all of the tools it needed to make a strong run at Apple and the iPhone. Right now all we can do is use the Amazon mp3 store which is ok, but we need something more polished and good looking. We already know when Google Music comes out that we will be able to stream home music to our phones. I can;t wait to find out what else Google has in store for us! Let’s hope they get it together and move forward with this very important service.
