Three’s no crowd for the Galaxy S
One of the reasons they make the wonderful Samsung Galaxy S in so many varieties is largely to cope with all the various 3G standards that exist. And if you think its complicated in North America you should see Europe or the Far East. Of course, this is easy beer for Samsung who will cater for CDMA200, TD-SCDMA and WCDMA standards with their SCH-1909, GT-19008 and GT-19088 models respectively, when they go live with the S over the next three months. Each of these technologies is being offered by China’s three biggest Carriers China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom who between them have 130M customers which still leaves a billion people there who are yet to get a mobile. That’s some market!
A phone for all tastes
Its not just 3G technologies that set the members of the Galaxy S family apart, its color too. We’ve all seen the ‘Snow White’ version well, in Korea there is now a pink Galaxy S which is so sweet you can actually put on weight just making a call on it.
Motorola reach two-milestone in Germany
The recent Berlin tech-fest the IFA turned up a few nice surprises for German smartphone users. Not least the imminence of Motorola’s Milestone 2 and Defy handsets. The German for cellphone is “handy” by the way. The Defy doesn’t have quite the speed and power credentials of the Milestone 2 but as its name suggests its a tough phone and boasts a diamond glass screen to compensate for its 800Mhz CPU compared to the Milestone 2’s 1GHz. Both phones will be offered by Vodafone Germany in the very near future. There were too many nice pics to choose just one or two, so check out the gallery below.
Widfire update
HTC Wildfire owners had been having problems with some of the phone’s social features including Google Talk and Facebook but today HTC have resolved these and other minor issues with the OTA release of update 1.25.405.1.
Wildfire users can now see status updates of their friends when they call. Cool.
