Heart’s Desire
It seems like we’ve been waiting forever for T-Mobile UK to bring their HTC Desire customers the latest Android operating system, Froyo – and its still not here. There have been all kinds of setbacks: first the dog ate it, then it slipped down the back of the sofa and now its someone else’s problem. Google’s problem to be precise as the update is sitting with them awaiting approval, according to a tweet from TmobileUKhelp anyway. How long this process will take was not made clear. Let’s hope its soon and that the cleaner doesn’t accidentally unplug the computer and delete it.
Liquid Gold
Liquid metal is a gallium containing alloy with a very low melting point and is not to be confused with Acer’s new Liquid Metal phone (pictured) which has a brushed aluminium finish but is nevertheless a very cool handset. Expected to be launched at the end of October in the UK, it boasts a high density 3.6 inch screen (480 x 800 px), an 800 MHz Qualcomm processor, Bluetooth 3.0. and a strong possibility of shipping with Froyo already onboard. I expect they’ll be making quite a hoo-ha about it nearer the date so we’ll keep an eye on it for you.
Apollo won’t cost you the moon
A good little all-rounder, the Samsung Galaxy Apollo and with the World and his wife all wanting an Android handset, T-Mobile UK are jumping on the bandwagon by offering the Apollo on a £20 ($31) a month tariff which gives you 300 minutes and text and 3GB of data.
Variety truly is the spice of life
There’s nothing like choice to spice up life and if its choice of Android handsets you’re talking about then India seems to be the place to be right now. Swiss Garmin and Chinese Asus have teamed up to bring the subcontinent its first 4G Android phone, the A10 (pictured). At Rs.21,000 ($450) its way over the accepted 10k ceiling but that’s to be expected and if it follows in its 3G ascendant’s footsteps it should fly off the shelves.
