Vodafone share shake up
Like most large companies, Vodafone have their fingers in more than one pie and with minority holdings in SFR, China Mobile and even Verizon Wireless to mention just a few, Vodafone have decided to go for a bit of housekeeping and are offloading some of their lesser partners in an attempt to keep shareholders from revolting after a decidedly sparse 18 months trading. It is perhaps their 45% stake in Verizon Wireless that is the most interesting and potentially volatile, with a merger with – or even a buy-back from – Verizon being quite possible. This is a slow burning fuse and we will probably have to wait a year or two for the fireworks.
Luvvin’ the LuvPad
I’d never heard of Japanese vendor Mouse before but they grabbed my attention with this stylish 10 incher is called the LuvPad AD100 – how sweet is that? Don’t be fooled by the hippy handle though, ’cause this baby can kick ass and comes tooled up to the teeth with Nvidia’s state-of-the-art Tegra 250 chipset, 8 GB of internal storage and HDMI output. The LuvPad goes on sale in Japan at the end of the month (provisional) for ¥39,800 ($480).
Every six seconds a Korean buys a Galaxy S
He must have a lot of them by now. Joking aside, that’s 10 phones a minute or 14,400 a day or, if you prefer, over 1,000,000 handsets since launching in June. SK Telecom Co. are expecting this trend to continue despite the iPhone 4 going on sale in South Korea this week. I think they’re right. The iWhat?
Compuglobalhypermeganet
That was the name of Homer Simpson’s dotcom company, if I remember rightly. I reckon someone down in Columbia must’ve been watching that episode when they dreamt up the Compumax Hyper Tablet which is the country’s first Android tablet. Its another ten incher and boasts OS 2.1, a 1GHz dual-core processor and all the trimmings you’d expect from a 700,000 peso ($390) machine.
