Android Market Expands to Even More Countries

Developers, rejoice! The Android Market is going to be made available to 18 more countries, making it available in a total of 32 countries, and 20 more countries will receive paid apps, a total of 29.  Not bad of an improvement I’d say, but still way too slow overall. The Android Market should be available to a lot more countries by now.

To be fair, these are the big and more important countries that they focused on, like Brazil or Sweden, among the new ones. So developers should see a boost in sales starting over the next 2 weeks, when the customers in these countries will have access to their apps.

One of the biggest drawbacks of Android, according to developers, is not the tools, or the number of users, but the lack of monetization. And this lack of monetization comes from the fact that the Market is currently a mess, with no filters that can push up the really good apps. And also the fact that the Market is not available in enough countries and that paid apps are not available in too many countries.

The boost in countries they got today, should help, but Google needs to step up the Market availability if they want developers to keep coming to the Android platform.
