What’s great about Android is that it can come to both very high-end smartphones, featuring the best specs, but also to low-end devices for people who don’t need their smartphone to do everything.
HTC is now bringing their low-end Android 2.1 device HTC Wildfire to North American carriers. It comes with a 528 MHz CPU, a 3.2 QVGA screen, 5 MP camera with auto-focus and Flash and weighs just 4.16 ounces.
The carriers weren’t named, but they probably mean both smaller carriers in USA, as well as some Canadian carriers. One of the first carriers seem to be Alltell Wireless though, which already has the phone for $29.99 on a 2 year contract and mail-in rebate.
