Waze is a social navigation that allows you to build up live maps based on user submitted input, one of the most different social networking apps on the market has recently updated to version 2.0 on the Android market. This update brings a standout feature called Groups. This feature basically allows other people going to the same destination or in a similar area update their maps live while driving.
The app will automatically mark things like traffic based on how often you stop and you can also add things yourself such as hazards, crashes, hidden cameras, etc. This type of social networking has extremely practical applications which I am a big fan of. I love the idea of driving along somewhere, glancing over at my Waze app and seeing that there is slow-moving traffic down my usual route so I can just go around it, ahhhh.
The latest release adds some further functionality of multi-touch zoom and rotation. Since the iphone release of version 2.0 last month there are now over 5000 Groups and the number’s will probably be ever-increasing.
