Verizon Bringing Motorola Ciena to the Entry-level Arena

Over the summer the Motorola Citrus was leaked. Here we same the device by the name of Motorola WX445 Ciena with some more detail on specs making it VZW’s first entry-level device. If you are an Android power user you probably won’t be interested in this but show the little guy some love, it’s still Android.

Verizon has said they wanted to bring Android to users of all cellular expertise and the Ciena will certainly bridge the gap. Don’t be shocked if this phone is promoted for free for 2-year contracts.

Features of the Motorola (WX445) Ciena include:

  • Android 2.1
  • 3in. QVGA screen (240×320 resolution)
  • 528MHz Qualcomm chipset
  • 256MB RAM
  • 512MB ROM
  • 3MP camera (Only the basics here, no flash, no autofocus)

This device was originally rumored to hit the shelves in September but obviously that didn’t happen. Assuming this device will still see the light of day it might pop up in their holiday line-up which would be great news for anyone wanting to get in on the Android hype without having to spend the big bucks for a power user device.

Any out there looking for a “low-end” Android device or do you think Android still belongs to a crowd that is primarily power users? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
