The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 specs sounded great, 4″ 480 x 854 touchscreen, 1 GHz processor, 8 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, and 3G. With the performance of Android 1.6 and the buggy customizations it was kind of a disappointment. Well that’s all about to change. Pending carrier approval, Sony plans to roll out Android 2.1 before the end of October.
The main features of the update are, five home screens (increased from three), twenty icons per screen (not just sixteen), a new power management widget, call log widget, muting capable lock screen, thumbnail shortcuts to home screens, and continuous auto-focus of that 8MP camera. This is on top of the features most of us already know and love on Android 2.1. Features like, a unified inbox, Live wallpapers, exchange support, browser support for HTML5, and quick contact shortcuts.
Don’t worry Xperia X10 owners, Sony Ericsson will soon be sending some love your way. Of course, until then, check out the two videos below for a preview of what is to come.
