Cobra iRadar system coming to Android in 2011

Users of Apple products have already had the opportunity to use Cobra iRadar since it was released last month, already receiving several industry awards including being named a 2011 CES Innovations Award Honoree. With its growing success, Cobra is planning on an Android expansion, bringing the popular radar application to everyone else. Senoir Vice President of marketing and sales Sally Washlow was quoted as saying “we are very excited to make the Cobra iRadar system available to Android users, who now represent over one-third of the smartphone market.” The iRadar system uses Bluetooth to connect your Android to the detector, which then allows you to control the settings and receive alerts on the device display. The system will allow drivers to view, hear, and log alerts for both radar and laser guns. Information on upcoming speed/red light cameras and other hazards will also be alerted.  The Cobra iRadar app, including Cobra’s AURA Camera and Driving Hazard Database, will be a free market download. As for the device itself, the rumored suggested price will be $169.95, and will be available at various retail stores beginning in the first quarter of 2011.
