“Early Adoption”, this is the phrase of the day. “Why?” you might ask. As you likely have already heard, the Samsung Galaxy Tab series is rapidly making its descent on all four of the major carriers. Do this for me, think back to your first Android experience, perhaps it was even the OG itself, the G1. Was the experience perfect? Using it then it likely impressed you enough that you were willing to overlook the minor flaws that it came with, the reason for this? There was no comparison; you didn’t have a Nexus One to compare it to. Apply that concept here and understand there is currently no logical reason to write off the Galaxy Tab.
Some people have been making a big deal that Google has come forward admitting that Froyo OS itself is not designed specifically for tablet interfaces. However, Samsung has reassured us that both Gingerbread and Honeycomb will be designed more specifically for these tablet devices. Getting one the day that it comes out? It is a wonderful interface and runs beautifully, if you are a fan of the iPad you will be blown away by this device. It is a giant leap forward in technology; the fact that the current Android OS is not specifically designed for it is a sacrifice you make for early adoption status.
How long will it take to get Gingerbread OS and Honeycomb OS on these devices? There are no estimated dates as of now; however considering the grand appearance of this larger than life gingerbread man on the Google Campus, I think we can safely assume it is at a sufficient point of development.
So have you had the chance to play with one of these Tabs yet? What did you think? Are you going to pick one up? What creative uses can you come up with for one of these in-between ( in between smart phone and laptop size) devices?
