We’ve all known from the beginning that because Nexus One was Google’s phone it was going to receive all updates before any other phone. And now it seems like Google will prove that to us once again. Google was first rumored to announce Gingerbread on November 11th together with a new “Nexus” phone, this time made by Samsung.
However, due to a technical issue the launch of the new Nexus phone has been delayed. That leaves Google to only announce Gingerbread for its reliable Nexus One phone, which would’ve gotten Gingerbread either way, whether the other Nexus phone was launched or not. And to confirm this, we have a tweet from a Google lead engineer that says:
“Prepare your Nexus One (Developer version) for Android OTA update 2.3 (Gingerbread) for the next few days .”
We’re only 3 days away from the supposed launch, so let’s see what Gingerbread will bring us – hopefully GPU UI acceleration, but from what I’m hearing it won’t come till Honeycomb. Shame.
