Google Maps updated to 4.7, adds "Rate Places" feature

Google has once again updated their mobile Maps app, now sitting at version 4.7. With the new update comes a new feature called “Hotpot“, allowing users to rate, review and recommend the places they go locally. The new feature also brings with it a home screen widget to quickly perform these new functions. Google has said the goal of adding Hotpot is “to make local search results for places on Google Maps more personal, relevant, and trustworthy.”

“Get personalized recommendations – Why rate the places you’ve been? First, your ratings will personalize your search results by customizing them according to your tastes. Even better, when you add friends to the mix using Hotpot on your computer, your ratings will point them in the direction of the best enchiladas in town the next time they crave Mexican food, wherever they happen to be”

Google Maps is compatible with Android OS 1.6 or later, and is available now in the market for free, so check it out and rate something.  Scan the QR code with your device or click the code from your device to get Google Maps on Android Market.
