It seems Google, Motorola and LG want to give the iPad 2 a run for its money next year. Motorola and LG plan to release their Honeycomb (Android 3.0) tablets in February to March 2011. Honeycomb will finally be ready to take the tablets of every tablet manufacturer out there that isn’t Apple. The tablets will be powered by what is going to be the standard chip in 2011 – Tegra 2.
Rumors say that different teams worked on the Honeycomb and Gingerbread versions so Gingerbread will be more like an improvement in both UI and features of Froyo, made by the same team, while Honeycomb was probably made by a team led by Matias Duarte, the web designer and UI expert that made WebOS what it is today. I’m expecting Honeycomb to give Android an overhauled UI, and hopefully better development tools as well, to help developers easily create Android apps that look polished and consistent with the other apps by default.
Apparently we can expect a full 10″ tablet from Motorola won’t be named MOTOPAD as it was rumored recently. Also, looking forward to LG’s “many firsts” tablet that is supposed to be the most productive tablet out there.
