Sony Ericsson is finally ready to move on from their obsolete Xperia X10 that until now had version 1.6 of Android, and it seems they are getting ready to launch a super slim phone with a 4.3″ screen and hopefully Gingerbread, not Android 2.1 as it’s shown in the picture. It would be a terrible mistake for them to launch this phone with a 1-year-old Android version (again).
If they want to remain relevant in the smartphone market, they need to get with the program and stay up to date, even if it means scrapping their custom UI. In fact, I hope they will do just that and go with stock Android. They are slow enough to manufacture and update these knows. That skin is just keeping them from being on the market and actually selling the device months earlier, not to mention all the bad reputation they are getting with that which chases away many potential buyers of their future phones. Let’s hope they’ll do it right this time. I wouldn’t mind if one more big manufacturer keeps up with the other 4 ones: Samsung, HTC, Motorola and LG.
