Android Gingerbread Appears in Video Demo

We’ve all wanted to see some clear pictures of even video of the Gingerbread version of Android and couldn’t wait until the day we’d see it. Well now we have a video demo, but I doubt you’ll be terribly impressed because there isn’t much visually different to see here. That doesn’t mean their core updates won’t be big, but the UI doesn’t seem to have gotten a very big update.

Perhaps Google should have let us know early on that there will be 2 versions of Android being built in parallel – Gingerbread and Honeycomb. I assume the Gingerbread team was mostly responsible for new features such as Google Talk Video chat and VOIP, near field communication (NFC), sensor fusion technology, and who knows what other goodies; while the Honeycomb team, led by Matias Duarte, was mostly focused on overhauling the UI and making it ready for tablets.
