There has been much talk lately about next year’s onslaught of dual core mobile devices and the amazing advances they will bring. Wel,l someone over at Engadget got their hands on the LG Star. The phone is a dual core beast and has the early development numbers to prove it. The phone comes complete with Nvidia Tegra 2 core running in all its glory. The current numbers leave us nothing but excited about things to come.
Hardware
The hardware is also quite nice and it is easily the best hardware LG has made yet. It has an 800 x 480 resolution 4 inch screen that is a rather high grade LCD with great viewing angles. It comes with a very capable speaker on bottom; combined with the beautiful screen this device appears to be great for multimedia. The software on this preproduction unit is obviously not complete and will be reviewed at a later time.

Performance
When it came to performance, this device is really starting to shine even in its current state. Not to praise too much, but this device singlehandedly puts all other Android phones to shame in terms of pure performance. The Quadrant score averaged around 2200 on Android 2.2 (Froyo), which shows the potential that this new wave of devices is able to bring.
Conclusion
The device in its current state is a stellar performer and comes in a very attractive package. The future of mobile phones for 2011 looks very promising. Hopefully app developers and game developers alike can come to the table and bring the performance to users in a meaningful and groundbreaking way. Also the battery life of these devices has not yet been properly tested. Many analysts have stated dual core should improve battery life with proper utilization. CES is shaping up to be a pretty entertaining and informative show with some great hardware showings. Some tipsters have stated the final version of this device might be running Gingerbread (Android 2.3) and we hope so. Stay tuned for more information.
