With a string of recent updates, including Voice Search and YouTube, Google has just updated its Gmail app as well. It might just be a strange coincidence that the new version sits at 2.3, a la Gingerbread. Google posted a message about the update on their official Mobile blogspot:
“When we first released Gmail in Android Market back in September, we said that you’d be getting new stuff faster, and we meant it. After getting thousands of comments on that release, we made a bunch of updates based on your feedback and today we’re launching Gmail for Android 2.3.2.”
The update is available for any devices already running Android 2.2 OS and brings plenty of improvement to the current application including:
- Better priority inbox support
- Send from any address set up with Gmail account
- Switch between reply, reply all, and forward while you compose
- Respond to messages in-line
- Various bug fixes
With Priority Inbox, you now have the ability to set notifications for important emails, as well as mark unimportant ones, archive, or delete others from priority view. Google has also improved Gmail’s message composition, making it easier to switch between reply, reply all, and forward. You now have the ability to choose your outgoing email address if you have your desktop account set up with mail forwarding. Also, the addition of in-line responses keeps you from having to go back and forth from a draft and your inbox.
