Honeycomb Music Player

The Android music player is one aspect of the OS that has been neglected over the past few version updates.  For many others, myself included, third-party music players like PowerAmp and Double Twist have proved a lot more functional.  With the next version of the music player Google plans to change all that by overhauling the player and adding many new features.

The new player for Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) is still being completed, but there is an unofficial beta that is available for download.  It installed without a problem and revealed a beautiful new UI that very much resembles the 3D media gallery app. The background changes with your music showing a nice rendition of the album art or simply changes colors if no album art is associated.

The main feature that’s is not working correctly yet is the ability to stream your music through your Google account.  There has been a lot of talk about it and I am eagerly looking forward to Honeycomb bringing that ability to have my complete music library with me at all times. Also a graphic equalizer is supposed to be included with Gingerbread, but I would like to see one integrated with the player as the one in PowerAmp has worked wonders on improving sound quality. Check out the player Here.
