The smart phone market is growing rapidly worldwide and all the major players are heavily invested. Currently smartphones have 30% of the total phone market as of October and Android is gaining on iOS and RIM the current leaders of the market. Android has increased at a rapid pace to 23% of the smart phone market share; Apple’s iOS has 27% tied with RIM’s Blackberry OS at 27%.
Mindshare however is another game all together and has a lot of indication on the future of the market. iOS and Android are almost tied at around 28% outpacing Blackberry at 13% and show future trends and how RIM needs to do some work and fast if they want to keep their place in a market they once owned. Windows is just coming back into the market and knows the importance of this all in effort because this clearly is the market of the future. Check out the graphs from Nielsen below.
