NFC Chips In Nexus S Aim to Make Life as Simple as a Touch

The release of the Nexus S brought dozens of new features to the Android world, both in the hardware and the software department. One of the features that isn’t as widely known as some of the more appealing aspects is the NFC chip that Google decided to include.

Gingerbread brought official support for this bad boy. In a short explanation, it allows you to do almost anything with one simple touch of  your phone. When you touch your phone to a specialized hot spot, your phone carries out any duty. For example, if you are at a store and are looking to buy something, you could just tap your phone to the hot spot and your credit card is automatically charged accordingly.

This obviously can impose a security risk, but Google claims that it is very secure. The hot spots are expected to begin rolling out to different clients soon (The only ones Google has given out are to some shops in Portland.) Hopefully, this new method is accepted by the community and becomes the future of payment, printing, mobile searches, and navigation.
