DDR2 memory: not just for the desktop!
Many of you are probably thinking no big deal when it comes to the use of DDR2 memory in Android smartphones. However, switching to this technology will give plenty of noticeable real world performance benefits. This new phone by Pantech will feature Qualcomm’s MSM8225 chipset and is rumored to be named the Vegas Xpress.
DDR2 will allow much quicker communication between the processor and memory and Pantech claims it will be 1.5 times faster than a similarly clocked device using current technology. This will allow for PC-like responsiveness in terms of web browsing, everyday application use, and gaming performance. The slight lag when loading a app or webpage will be eliminated. It will also help battery life along with doubling 3D performance. Hopefully all manufactures get onboard with this technology in their next round of devices and continue pushing the boundaries. The specs of the Vegas Xpress are pretty impressive.
Alas, it’s only available in South Korea for now.
