Android 4G Tablet/Phone Hybrid to be Unveiled at CES

One thing for sure about the upcoming CES is that there will be a mountain of Android tablets making appearances. While many of these will likely be low-powered and cheaply built devices, there are companies who are trying to create a truly unique product.

ViewSonic is going to throw another hat (we’ve already seen the G Tablet) into the Android tablet ring with a bit of a twist — it’s also a phone. Specs are still unclear, but early reports say that the device will sport a 4-inch touchscreen display and run on 4G networks. Additionally, there hasn’t been an official carrier announcement yet as Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile are all getting their new networks off the ground. Still, it wouldn’t be surprising for this device to show up on multiple carriers under different names.

What’s curious is why this unnamed device is being called a tablet. At 4-inches, it’s smaller than the Droid X, but maybe ViewSonic is trying to cash in on the tablet craze.
