Google NFC Payment & Ad System Could Launch This Year

Google is going all in when it comes to its NFC (Near Field Communication) Payment and Ad system.  The system is now natively a part of Android since Gingerbread and the Nexus S were released.   Google has plans of Contact-less payment using your phone to make purchases.  The system will be connected to your payment method of choice eliminating the need to carry all of your cards with you.

As we have seen the SuperPhone’s role is continuing to grow, already combining your media player, your camera, and now your wallet into one device that has the ability to make calls as an added bonus. Apple also plans to introduce the NFC system in their next iteration of the iPhone. With the two largest players on board it shouldn’t be too long before we can see wide spread adoption of this technology.

NFC however is much more than a purchasing method and will bring about entirely new ways for businesses to interact with customers.  The system would be implemented into ads so the consumer can instantly get more information on a product of their choosing, it could be used as a ticket-less way to travel, and an easy way to share contact information with another phone. Needless to say this technology will have a dramatic impact hopefully other manufactures and retailers get on board as soon as possible.
