HTC "Scribe" Maybe the Next Android Tablet

HTC has been very successful on the Android smarthphone front, but now it seems they might be stepping into the Tablet industry with their very own device. The “HTC Scribe, the rumored name for the new device, has appeared in a trademark application filed by HTC in the past week. A separate application filed for the name “Scribe” was also filed by HTC. Each are described as a “handheld wireless device, namely, a tablet computer.”

Of course the word “scribe” might lead you to believe it could include a stylus, which would be a unique feature of this Android tab. But would it be necessary? Earlier rumors about the HTC tablet have said it would feature a NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 1280 x 720 resolution, 2 GB of internal memory, and a 32 GB microSD card, and running Android Honeycomb OS (that would be Android 2.4 or 3.0 depending on which rumor we believe this week).

HTC has givin us some great Android devices, so a tablet only seems the natural next step. They might be a little late to join the party, but better late than never. Here’s to plenty of tablet choices and pushing technology to the brink. Hooray for 2011!
