There have been a number of reports about the NOOK eBook reader. Barnes & Noble did not expect the numbers that they had estimated. It was taken by surprise as they had believedthey created an edge as an Android -based color eReader. Their 3G version did not have an impact in the market and therefore, the product will be discontinued.
Officially, the 3G version has been canceled whereas no figures on sales of the units have been disclosed. The version is available for purchase until stocks last. Fortunately, NOOK and NOOKcolor are not affected.
People prefer using their eReaders at home connected to WiFi and will be content long enough to last until they are back within the range of the connection. This does have an impact on the sales of the 3G version. Do you believe that Barnes & Noble have taken the right move? Share your views.
