WebMD has just released its Medscape app for Android users. You can download it from the Android Market, AppBrain, or just use the QR Code below with your mobile device. It is available for free.
Medscape is designed for healthcare professionals working in a clinical setting that need reputable and free reference material. This app has been available for some time to iPhone and Blackberry users, and now Android welcomes it as well. So far 700,000 medical pros have registered and installed the app to their iPhone or Blackberry. The number of users will significantly increase now that Android is included in the mix.
Medscape for Android offers reference information, news and education right to your smartphone. Its drug reference database covers 8,000 brand name, generic and over the counter medications. There’s a drug interaction checker that includes how up to 30 different drugs, herbals, or supplements will interact together to help avoid unwanted or dangerous reactions or side effects.
WebMD has included in this app an in-depth clinical reference and treatment guide for an enormous multitude of diseases and conditions. Medical pros will have access to continuing medical education needed to obtain their license in 30 distinct specialties. The drug and clinical reference areas are updated regularly.
This app sounds like a must have for anyone in the healthcare industry, and may even prove a great learning tool for us not so medically savvy individuals.
